Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1.

  • Battery
  • iginition switch
  • starter
  • fuel switch
  • ammeter
  • gas tank unit
  • switch
  • iginition coil
  • breaker
  • distributor
  • generator
  • current and voltage regulator

2.Purpose and Working :

Battery:

  • The battery is used to convert chemical energy into electrical energy.the battery consist of There are two types of battery Primary battery and secondary battery.
  • In this circuit diagram the secondary lead acid battery is used which have charging and discharging capacity.
  • The battery consists of anode as pho2 , cathode as pb and electrolye solution as sulphuric acid.
  • When the ignition switch is on the battery begins to supply electrical supply to the components like engine , starter,and to electrical circuits which are connected to the battery.

Ignition switch:

  • The ignition switch is used to turn ON and OFF the vehicle and it is the switch to supply the electical current .
  • When the engine is turn On the electrical supply from the battery is supplied to the engine ,starter motor, distributor,and vehicle accessories.
  • When the iginition swith is turn off the battery stops the power supply and the vehicle engine stops to run further the vehicle stops.

Generator:

  • The generator converts the mechanical energy into the electrical energy .
  • The main components of the generator are armature,commutor ,burshes,rotor and stator.
  • The three phase winding is done in armature conncted with the rotor, and the field winding is mounted in the stator.
  • when the generator starts to rotate the rotor starts to rotate so there will be a magnetic flux created inbetween the armature wing and field winding .
  • As the commutator and brushes converts the Ac current into Dc current.

3.Battery current=10A; voltage=12v

power=v*i=120w

fuse rating=power/voltage*1.25

=12.5Ah

4.Power =500w; Battery voltage = 12v

power=v*i

i=500/12=41.67amps

capacity = current*time
41.67*1=41.67Ah

5.Generator and current voltage regulator are connected parallel to eachother:

The parallel connection between the generator and current voltage regulator is to have the constant voltage supply inbetween them .

6.Battery and Starter are connected in series :
In series connection the voltage supply is high with constant current flow , so the battery supply are done with more voltage with reduced and current flow.
