Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1)Major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram:

Battery ,Starter ,Ignition switch ,Ignition coil,Ammeter, Fuse , Generator ,Distributer ,Junction Block ,Foot selector switch ,Current and voltage regulator , Circuit breaker ,Light switch , Gas tank unit ,Horn .

3)Fuse rating :

Generally the fuse rating shoud be greater than the curent used by load .so if the load taken is

10 A means , we should take greater than 10 A. so by standard ratings we shall use 15 A fuse .

4)For 500W load, the voltage and capacity of battery recommended:

Power =V*I (Voltage given as 12 V)

500= 12*I

I=41.66 A

Charging time = battery capacity /current (Let us take chrging time as unity )

so Battery capacity is 41.66 Ah. when Std battery of nearest value is 60 Ah and voltage as 12V

5) i)AMMETER AND HORN are connected in parallel , as it requires same voltage and low current is required and only directed current reaches the horn .

ii)Light switches and scaled beam are connected in parallel , as many beams are required and current is split between them to change the power of beam .

6) i)Battery and starter are connected in series as it requires direct high current to start the vehicle .

ii)Dome light and switch are also connected in series as when high current passes than the rating of the current means it breaks the circuit and saves damage of the Bulb .
