Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

  1. Identify each of the major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram.

horn button , gas tanky,  unit, fuse, ammeter, battery, starter, distributor, juction box, generator.

  1. Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly.

ignition coil ; it helps to produce high voltage to the spark plug. The component is a transformer and it produces the short fire or spark of high volt for the combustion. The ignition coil is two sets of winding which include primary winding (outer winding) and secondary winding (inner winding).

fuse is made up of thin strip or strand of metal, whenever the heavy amount of current or an excessive current flow is there in an electrical circuit, the fuse melts and it opens the circuit and disconnects it from the power supply. Also, it works as a circuit breaker or stabilizer . The fuses work on the principle of the heating effect of the current

battery : it are a collection of one or more cells whose chemical reactions create a flow of electrons in a circuit. All batteries are made up of three basic components: an anode (the '-' side), a cathode (the '+' side), and some kind of electrolyte. there can be two type of battery primary and secondary batteries.

3.If the total load is 10A from battery, what should be the fuse rating?

fuse rating should be higher than the 10 A because depending on the continuous and peak current demand of electrical component can break the circuit. we can use a fuse of 15 A to avoid inconvience and also protecting the apploiance from damage.

  1. If 500W is the load, what is the voltage and capacity of battery you recommend?

given; VOLTAGE =12 v

          power =500W

from power formula

P=V*I

500=12*I

I= 41.66 A

for using the load for 1hr we have to make a battery of 41.66Ah

5Identify any two elements which are connected parallel to each other. Why they are connected in parallel?

this auxilary components horn and lamp are connected in parallel because there are not interdependable on each there working of any one will not stop whole system.

6.Identify any two elements which are connected in series. Why they are connected in seriest ?

switch ignition coil and distributor is connected in series because any disturbance in one componet can lead to inoperatibility of system.
