Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

ans1)major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram:

  • Battery
  • Starter
  • Ignition coil
  • Breaker
  • Distributor
  • Generator
  • Current & voltage regulator
  • Ignition switch
  • Foot selection switch
  • Junction block
  • Fuse

ans2) the purpose and working of any three elements briefly:

Starter:

purpose of starter motor is used to crank initially the crankshaft.

working:

switch on ignition switch --> connects battery and starter --> starter get actuates & crank the crankshaft.

Generator:

purpose to supply current for the operation of the ignition system, the lighting system, and all other electrical parts when the engine is running.

working Generator is a machine that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Distributor:

purpose to routes the successive bursts of high-voltage current to each spark plug in the firing order.

working is to high voltage, current from the ignition coil to the spark plugs in the correct firing order and for the correct amount of time.

Ans3) If the total load is 10A from battery,

fuse rating = load * 135% = 10*135% = 13.5A

so the fuse rating is 15A.

Ans4) Given:

Load power (P) = 500W

battery Volt = 12V

soln:

assume (t) = 2hr

battery capcity = P*t = 500*2 = 1000Whr

battery capcity = 1000Whr

ans5) Two elements which are connected parallel:

  • tail light
  • parking light

If multiple elements are connected to the same pair of nodes, the elements are in parallel, so the voltages in two elements are identical.

ans6)two elements which are connected in series:

  • Gas tank unit
  • Fuel guage

In series connection of two elements, the same current flows through each element
