Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1. major elements in the wiring diagram

a. Battery

b. starter

c. generator

d. distributor

e. breaker

f. fuse

g. current and voltage regulator

h. light switch

i. ammeter

j. gas tank

k. ignition coil

l. ignition switch

m. fuel guage

n. foot selector

o. horn and horn switch

p. lamp

2. working and purpose of any 3 ;

a. battery - battery is the to provide dc voltage to the automotive to start and store the current produced by the automotive

b. light switch - switch to operate different lamps provided on the automitive , And glow lamps whenever needed

c. ignition coil - it acts like a transformer ,which have 2 coils . it transforms battery voltage to high voltage and transfers to spark plug. it is a major element in running the automotive

3. given data

load from battery = 10A

battery voltage = 12v

we know that fuse rating is 135% of total full load & should take next standard fuse value for the application

so, fuse rating = 10A * 135% = 13.5 A

that imply, we have to take next standard fuse of 15A for our application

4. given ,

Power ,P = 500W

voltage =12V (assuming that automitive standard )

we know , P = V * I

so , I = P/V =500 /12 = 41.66 A

we can go for 42A battery

5 . connected to parallel ;

a. parking lamp

b. horn

reason - they are parallel to each other because the to provide equal voltage

6 . connected to series

a. ammeter - shows the current consumption and recharging of battery

b. fuel guage - shows the fuel level

reason - to reduce overheat and current flow is uniform
