Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1. First question answers are below,

  1. Starter Motor.
  2. Generators.
  3. Battery.
  4. Fuse.
  5. Ignition Coil.
  6. Breaker.
  7. Wires.
  8. Horn
  9. Lights
  10. Connectors.
  11. Earth.

2. 2nd question answers are below,

  1. Starter Motor: It is used to start the engine. It engages with the engine and when you start the vehicle it will give initial rotation to the crank.
  2. Generator: it is used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
  3. Battery: It is used to store electrical energy and discharge where is needed. i.e. provides the current to the starter motor when we start the vehicle, electric power to the ignition system, and wherever the electric power is needed it will provide.

3. Fuse rating = 2 x total load = 2x10A = 20A

= 20 Amp.

4. Power = 500 W.

The battery voltage is 12V.

Capacity (Ah)?

P= V*I

I=P/V=500/12=41.66 Amp.

assuming battery needs to be run at 1 hour

Energy = P*time = (V*I)*t = (12*41.66)*1 = 499.2 Wh.

kWh=Ah*V

Ah=kWh/V=499.2/12 = 41.66 Ah

The recommended Battery Capacity is 41.66Ah.

5. The Parking Lamp & Scaled Beams are connected parallel because of maintaining the voltage.

6. The Fuse & ammeter are connected in series because the fuse always needs to connect in series and it needs to be disconnected when the excessive current flows through it. The ammeter needs to measure current properly if it is installed in parallel then will measure wrongly but it is installed in series as we know the current is the same in series and its measures properly.
