Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
1.) Identify each of the major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram.
Ans) a. Battery
b. Distributer
c. Current and Voltage Regulator
d. Generator
e.Junction box
2.) Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly.
Ans)
a) Battery: A Battery the heart of the electric vehicle which provise power to each unit of the EV. A battery is composed of anode,cathode and electrolyte. Anode and cathode are the to terminals and the electrolyte is the medium in which the electrons are traveling. Usualy we use lead-acid or lead-ion batteries for our purpos but in ev due to high power and energy density we use lead-ion batteries.A battery pack is made up of diffrent module which are arranged in the series and parallel combinations and further the module consist of series and parallel arrangeent of cell in the required arrangement.
b) Generator: A generator is the device which generates the electricity from the mechanical input.Basicaly it converts mechanical energy into the electrical energy.It can produce both AC and DC current according to the arrangement in the generator. It consist of rotor armature and magnet,it's principle is electromagnetic induction.
c) Current and Voltage Regulator:As we all know for regulating the voltage we use transformers,they are further classified into step up and step down. Based on the number of coil and there arrangements the voltage can be step up and douwn.while for the current we use BJT bipolar junction transistors,(NPN,PNP)for regulating the current.
3.) As the total load of the device is 10A from the battery the fuse rating must be in between 8 to 12, not more then 12.
4.)ATQ
total load =500W
valtage =12v
P=VI
500=12*I
.: I=41.66 is the required current to run the load at 12 voltage for 1 hour so the batter rating must be more then 41.66AH to run the load at 12 volt.
5.) Parking Lamp and Horn both are connected in parallel as both are for diffrent work and to run them at difrrent time we need to connect them in parallel conection.example when parking lamp is working horn must not be working and vice versa.
6.) Dome light and dome switch,Ignition coil and Ignition Switch both the elemets are connected in series with their switches asto run the dome or ignition starter the switches must be connected in series to them .
