A. The efficiency is important factor to determine how much of energy is converted to work. Thermal behaviour of the materials used greatly impacts the efficiency because if there is great difference in the temperature at which combustion of fuel happens and the temperature of the surroundings, then more energy is lost.

The temperature of burning fuel, chemical composition of the fuel all determines the emission of engine. Hence Thermal behaviour of material used are very crucial

Design: To improve the fuel intake efficiency, Carburettor was replaced with Fuel injection systems. (Single point Fuel injection and Multi point fuel injection, direct fuel injection)

Because carburettor produces lean air fuel mixture at low speed. Proper ratio is achieved only at load and speed. Fuel economy is very low, consumes more fuel than the injectors.

• To have good compression ratio.
• Less friction within the engine components
• Choice of components and materials used based on their thermal efficiency improves efficiency
