Project 2 - Supply and Demand Gap Analysis

Renewable Energy Data Analysis Project

1. Aim

To analyze the renewable energy consumption trends across various countries over time, identify insights, and provide recommendations based on the data.

2. Introduction

Renewable energy is a crucial aspect of global efforts to combat climate change. This project analyzes a dataset of renewable energy consumption measured in KTOE across multiple countries from 1960 onwards.

3. Problem Statement

Despite global awareness, the growth and adoption of renewable energy vary widely across regions. The dataset will be used to identify usage trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

4. Methodology

1. Load and clean the dataset.
2. Explore and visualize energy consumption trends by year and country.
3. Identify top and bottom countries in renewable energy usage.
4. Provide actionable insights and recommendations.

5. Analysis

The dataset contains over 15,000 rows across countries and years. Initial exploration shows countries like the US, China, and India have significant renewable energy usage, but growth trends vary. Missing values in 'Value' were handled carefully during aggregation and analysis.

6. Insights

- Countries like Iceland and Norway consistently show high renewable energy usage per capita.
- Developing nations show slower but growing trends.
- Some countries exhibit stagnation or decline, needing policy intervention.

7. Recommendations

- Support investments in renewables for low-performing countries.
- Focus on solar and wind energy in sunny and windy regions respectively.
- Foster international cooperation and funding mechanisms.

8. Conclusion

This analysis highlights the progress and disparities in renewable energy adoption. With data-driven strategies, nations can better transition to sustainable energy systems.
