Project 2 - Supply and Demand Gap Analysis

Aim

  • The aim of this project is to analyze the data in detail of power generation in different power stations in India with expected power generation, actual power generation, over-produced or under-produced power generation.

Introduction

  • This report contains information about the generation of power in different power station.
  • Visuals of the stations according to their production are made.
  • The over generated and under generated power stations are also shown.

Problem Statement

  • In this we have to find the quantity of power generated by different power stations in India.
  • Which power stations can meet the goal and which are not.
  • Which stations are generating highest amount of energy.

Methodolgy

Step 1 – Data Importing

  • First, we have to load the dataset, and clean it.

Step 2 – Data Cleaning

  • We have to remove the empty values.

Step 3 - Visualization

· Then, the visuals are built according to the data, using charts and graphs for ease of understanding.

Analysis

  • First analysis is done for the top 10 number of stations in India using count of power station.
  • Here, we can see that maximum number of stations are of NTPC Ltd., followed by GMR RNERG, NHPC, NPCIL, TATA PCL and so on.
  • In the second analysis, the amount of power production is analyzed in different power stations in India.
  • In the top 10 power stations, we can see that NTPC Ltd. Is producing the maximum power after that Maharashtra then APL and so on
  • The next analysis is showing the comparison between the estimated power that needed to be generated and the actual power generated.
  • In this we can see that NTPC Ltd. And DVC is producing more than the estimation.
  • Maharashtra and APL are not fulfilling the need.
  • The next analysis is about the top 5 stations that are producing excess power.
  • Here NPCL Ltd. Is in first position, GCEL is in second position after that GPL, DVC and then SPL.
  • The last analysis contains the last 10 stations that are producing less than the estimated production.
  • The last station is APL.

Insights

  • From this we conclude that, which power station are producing more than the needed amount.
  • Which power stations need to increase the power generation.
  • How much power is generated by the power stations.

Recommendations

  • We can analyze the power consumption of the states and cities.
  • Compare the data of power consumption of states and cities and power generated in that state.
  • According to that analysis the power stations can increase their power generations to fulfill the demands.

Conclusion

  • From this we conclude that some power stations need to increase the power generation and some should produce according to the estimation.
  • Need to increase the number of power stations.
