Project 2: Meshing on the suspension Assembly

GEOMETRY CLEAN-UP:

Geometry cleanup was carried out for every parts present in the assembly. Pictures of some parts are given below.

MESHING:

After Geometry clean-up for meshing following procedure is followed:

• Mid surface extracted for thickness less than 5 mm otherwise surface meshing was conducted prior to solid meshing.
• 2-d meshing was conducted with mixed type elements.
• For solid meshing volume was defined first then the tetra rapid or tetra fem was selected.
• Also, suspension spring is meshed using pbar element.
• Then simple rigid connection was implemented to different parts.
• And result was presented using symmetry.

There are some  parts which are of different thickness they are meshed as 3-d solids though the guidelines are given.
