Week 3 - 2D meshing for sheet metal
2D meshing for Car hood model
Aim of the project:
Geometry Cleanup of the following components:
- Car hood
- Hood frame
- Latch reinforcement
Mid-surface extraction:
- Car hood
- Hood frame
- Latch reinforcement
2-d Meshing of following components:
- Car hood
- Hood frame
- Latch reinforcement
Procedure:
Geometry cleanup was carried two times one at the beginning of the project and another after mid-surface extraction. It is monitored that no triple cons are present in the model also it is monitored that no single cons are present other than boundary edges.
Mid surface extraction was performed using both manually and automatically.
In manual offset command was used while in automatic method skin command was used for the same purpose.
In meshing it is maintained that no off elements should be present in the model. Also, it was one of the aims of the project to eliminate unwanted trias in the mesh.
In meshing car hood special care has been taken for fillet region which has been mentioned in the guideline. For these two cons have been suppressed.
Learning outcomes:
- GUI of ANSA
- CAR HOOD ASSEMBLY
- MIDSURFACE EXTRACTION
- GEOMETRY CLEAN-UP
- 2-D SHELL MESHING.
Conclusion:
2-D surface meshing was performed on car hood assembly.
