Project 2 - Implement the Code for controlling the retraction and extension of Airplane’s landing gear

PROJECT 2:

Controlling the retraction and extension of an airplane's landing gear can be achieved efficiently with the help of a mathematical concept called a Finite State Machine (FSM).

  • Controlling the Direction of Valve:In the airplane's landing gear system, there's a valve that's responsible for managing the flow of hydraulic fluid. This valve controls whether the landing gear should go up (retraction) or down (extension).
  • Software Control of the Valve:The direction valve, which controls the hydraulic pressure, is controlled by software. This means that a computer program decides when to allow the hydraulic pressure to raise or lower the landing gear.
  • Implementing Control with FSM: We break down the process into different "states" that represent various situations. These states include checking before takeoff, raising the gear, lowering the gear, etc.

We also keep track of the state of switches (sensors or controls) that tell us whether the landing gear should be up or down. If a switch tells us it's time to raise or lower the gear, the FSM helps us do it, at thr right time.

All of this together allows us to control the landing gear in a structured way, ensuring it's up when it should be and down when it needs to be for safe movement.

In conclusion, we use a smart mechanism called the Finite State Machine to control the airplane's landing gear. It manages the direction of the hydraulic valve, and the software keeps track of the gear's state. This ensures that the landing gear behaves as needed for safe takeoff, flight, and landing.
