Finite state machine:
A finite state machine is a machine that can, at any point in time, be in a specific state from a finite set of possible states.
It can move (transition) to another state by accepting an input. If the machine allows for outputs, it can produce an output.
Finite State Machines have a finite number of states to be in.
State Diagram:
State-transition diagrams describe all of the states that an object can have, the events under which an object changes state (transitions), the conditions that must be fulfilled before the transition will occur (guards), and the activities undertaken during the life of an object (actions).
