As per details from census 2011 Tamilnadu has population of 7.21 crores and increases from figure of 6.24 crores in 2001 census. Total population of Tamilnadu as per 2011 census is 72147 030 of which male and female are 36137 975 and 36009 055 respectively. In 2001 total population was 62405679 in which mails were three one four zero zero 909 while female swar 31004 77. The total population growth in this decade was 15.61% while in previous decade it was 11.19% the population of Tamilnadu forms 5.96% of India in 2011.
Literacy rate in Tamilnadu has seen upward trained and is 80.09% as per 2011 population census update male literacy stand at 86.77% while females literacy is at 73.44% in 2001. Literacy rate in Tamilnadu issued at 73.45% of which male and female were it to 2.42% and 64.43% literacy respectively. In actual number total illiterates in Tamilnadu stand at 51 837 507 of which mails were 28040491 and female swar 237970 16.
