Lithium ion

Using MATLAB/ Simulink and the drive cycle from the attached excel sheet, find-

  1. The max heat generation of the battery
  2. The SOC of the battery at 2 *104second of the battery operation
  1. Maximum heat generation of the battery

The maximum current in the drive cycle is I= -0.896 at time t= 2minitue (120seconds)

Battery resistance = 2milliohm

Maximum heat generated = I^2Rt = (-0.896^2) *2*120 = 0.192 watt

The total heat generated = joule heat + Entropic heat

= 0.192W+2(0.192W)

=0.576 watt

The maximum heat generation of the battery is 0.576 watt

  1. The SOC of the battery at 2*104 second of the battery operation

Signal builder

Resistor

  • The signal builder is given as the input to the model
  • The simulation time is 2*104 is 208 sec
  • 208 is a simulation time
  • Signal builder is given to the current controller source which is connected to the batter as a load
  • So here the battery is discharged according to this signal given by the data
  • The powergui block is required for any simulation of the Simulink model
  • It is mainly used to store the equipment Simulink circuit which represents the state space model
  • The output of a battery is given to the scope through the bus selector
