Project 2
AIM:
To enable connections between the variours components of the suspension assembly access door.
PROCEDURE:
Import the model back door connections into nastran tab.
Check for the topological errors through the checks manager-> geometry.
Select the errors and use the auto fix option to fix the errors.
In case of unfixed errors, go with the mannual fixing options in order to remove the errors such as overlapping faces, triple cons, unchecked faces, etc,.
Use the lock option to save and control the view of as required.
The component is already shell meshed, with 2d elements.
The entire suspension assembly PID is segregated as per the components and a seperate PID is assigned for every component.
The components are attacted with each other with suitable connections.
As different surfaces are held together with adesive joint.
Same type of materials, if metal are held with welds.
Standard welds used in this operations are seam, spot, Rbe2 and Rbe3 rigid welds.
The door body inner mould is of plastic and it should be held with the sheet metal outer door with Rbe2 joints.
Rbe2 and the Rbe3 elements are rigid elements, with all 6 degrees of freedom arrested, are applicable to preferred joints.
GENERAL PROCEDURE TO RELIZE A CURVE OR A SPOT
Create a spot or curve using COG or con2curve.
Use convert option to help ansa identify the true feature type.
Select the feature type and go to connection manager.
On which the plane and base are selected, and the type of connection that needs to be deployed is selected on the FE rep type.
The type of connections along with the fe rep type are detailed below:
- Spot weld RBE3-HEXA-RBE3.
- Seam weld if over lapping shell select OVERLAPP SHELL.
- if perpendicular connection then select the Y-JOINT SHELL.
- if rigid weld then select the RBE2 type.
- Adhesive to held the glass use RBE3-HEXA-RBE3 or CBUSH for bush elements and beedings.
Bolts are held by creating a common 3d point and converting it into bolts or the spiders are created and are connected together with a cbar between the master nodes.
- RBE2 and RBE3 (seam welds & adesives)
1.) The door body inner mould is of plastic and it should be held with the sheet metal outer door with Rbe2 joints.
2.) Go to -> nastran deck-> Rbe2 -> multi points -> select the points and the master node along with the Rbe2 connection is created.
3.) The end frame, front end frame and upper pad frame are held together with rbe2 seam weld.
4.) The front frame and the outer door sheet metal with RBE2 seam weld.
- SUSPENSION DAMPER & SPRING
The two different elements with varing material, as it has to be connected with CBUSH, for it to provide a damping effect.
- BOLTS
1.) Coinsiding holes with materials with two same or different components where the bolt connection needs to be fixed are the points where the bolt connections are to be used.
2.) hinges with other surfaces.
No free swings of components are allowed as they are attacted to the surface with rbe2 elements.

Thus the given component is successfully connected within the components with suitable connections.
