Challenge

Solid Meshing of Rear Suspension System using ANSA

Aim:

To mesh the given Rear Suspension System with respect to the given quality criteria.

Procedure:

  • The given model is opened in ANSA and the model is refined for better capturing of the features.

  • Once the CAD is refined, the geometry check is performed and the geometry issues are solved.

  • After clearing the geometry check,Each part is picked separately using the PID region option and the meshing is done. The Rim and Tyre are meshed using the given mesh parameter and quality criteria using Tria and Ortho trai elements.

  • Once the Tyre and Rim are meshed, the other parts are meshed using the given mesh parameter and quality criteria separately.

  • Since one part has a overall thickness of less than 5mm,that part is shell meshed using the given mesh parameters and quality criteria.

  • The Spring of the Suspension system is meshed using 1D element. The CBAR element from the NASTRAN deck is used to mesh the spring with an average element kength of 4mm.

  • Once Meshing is completed, the solid elements are generated using the TETRA FEM option and is checked for a Tet collapse of 0.2.

Result:

The given Rear Suspension System is meshed.
