Project 1 - V&V SW Analysis - I
Test Plan for Mobile Phone Features (Black Box Testing)
1. Introduction
This test plan outlines the strategy, scope, and approach for testing the features of the new mobile phone. The product is in the development stage and is yet to undergo User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The testing will be Black Box Testing, ensuring that all user stories meet the expected functional requirements without focusing on the internal structure of the system.
2. Scope
The scope of this test plan includes validating the following aspects:
Powering on and off the phone
UI behavior and responsiveness
App icon placement and visibility
Functional correctness of the call and dictionary features
Compliance with UI/UX guidelines
Ensuring no hard buttons exist on the phone
3. Testing Approach
The testing will follow Black Box Testing methodology, focusing on functional, usability, and UI testing. Test execution will be performed manually on a prototype or emulator of the mobile phone software.
4. Test Cases
Power On & Off Functionality
Long pressing the power button should switch on the phone, displaying the company logo at the center of the screen. Pressing the power button once should switch on the phone, showing all app icons in a grid. Long pressing the power button while the phone is on should power it off, displaying a "Good-Bye" message.
UI and Icon Placement
The call icon should appear as the first icon on the bottom bar. The dictionary icon should appear as the second icon on the bottom bar. The font used should be "Calibri (Body)" with a size of 12. The UI should be responsive to touch gestures, and the phone should not have any physical buttons.
App Functionalities
Tapping the "Call the phone" icon should display the contact list in chronological order. Tapping the "Dictionary" icon should open a search bar in the middle of the screen.
5. Test Data
No special test data is required. The primary focus is on UI elements and basic app functionalities.
6. Pass/Fail Criteria
A test case is considered Pass if the actual behavior matches the expected result. It is marked as Fail if there is any deviation from the expected result.
7. Risks & Mitigations
UI elements may not render correctly, which can be mitigated by performing UI testing across different screen resolutions. If the power button is unresponsive, hardware and software integration should be validated. Touch sensitivity issues should be addressed through multiple tests. If an app crashes during interaction, defects should be reported and retested after bug fixes.
8. Test Deliverables
The test deliverables include a Test Cases Document, Test Execution Report, Defect Logs, and a Final Test Summary Report.
9. Conclusion
This test plan ensures that all key functionalities and UI behaviors of the mobile phone meet the required specifications before the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase. The results from these tests will be used to validate the product's readiness for launch.
