Project 1 - English Dictionary App & Library Book Management System

In this project, I learned a comprehensive range of skills related to Python programming, focusing on file handling, database management, and GUI development. For the English Dictionary App, I learned how to create a simple menu-driven application that allows users to add, search, and update words and their definitions. I implemented file handling and serialization using Python’s pickle module to store and retrieve a dictionary of words and their meanings in a file called words.txt. This taught me how to effectively manage data persistence and interact with files, as well as how to structure data in Python.

In the Library Book Management System, I developed a Tkinter-based GUI application. I learned how to create a user-friendly interface with input fields for book title, author, publication year, and ISBN, and a listbox to display matching book records. The application connects to an SQLite database, where I implemented CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, and Delete) to manage book records. This part of the project taught me about working with relational databases, writing SQL queries, and integrating database functionality with a GUI. I also gained experience with handling user input, updating records, and displaying dynamic results in the interface. Through these sub-projects, I developed a better understanding of file manipulation, database management, and creating interactive applications using Python.
