Project 1 - COVID-19 Vaccinations Trend Analysis

COVID-19 VACCINATIONS TREND ANALYSIS

AIM OF THE PROJECT

The primary aim of this project is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of vaccination data, specifically focusing on individuals who have received at least one dose of the vaccine and those who are fully vaccinated. The analysis will be performed with a detailed breakdown based on the year and country of vaccination.

INTRODUCTION

This project is undertaken with the primary objective of conducting a comprehensive analysis of COVID-19 Vaccination data. The purpose of this analysis is to derive meaningful and impactful insights that contribute to our understanding of the vaccination landscape.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The focal point of this project is to address several key queries and challenges related to COVID-19 vaccinations through a rigorous data analysis approach. The identified problem areas are as follows:

  1. Assessment of Vaccination Status: Determine the distribution of fully vaccinated individuals versus those who are partially vaccinated across different countries.
  2. Yearly and Country-wise Total Vaccinations: Analyze the total number of vaccinations administered each year, subsequently breaking down the data by individual countries to provide a detailed overview.
  3. Daily Vaccination Rates: Evaluate the daily vaccination rates on both a country-specific and global scale, providing insights into the dynamic nature of vaccination efforts.
  4. Temporal Evolution of Vaccination Graphs: Investigate the temporal changes in vaccination graphs since the initiation of vaccination drives, outlining the progression and impact over time.
  5. Identification of Leading Vaccination Performers: Determine the countries with the highest overall vaccination rates, both in terms of percentage of the population and absolute count.
  6. Geospatial Visualization: Develop a map visualization showcasing the vaccination status of various countries, employing bubble charts to highlight highly affected regions. This includes an examination of global and country-specific perspectives.

METHODOLOGY

1. Data Processing and Cleaning: Data processing and cleaning involved minimal efforts due to pre-processed data; during data import into Power BI, adjustments were made to column data types for better comprehension.

2. Timeline: Data collection spanned from 2020 to 2022.

3. Visualization Techniques: Visualization techniques encompassed the use of line charts, cards, tile slicers, dropdown lists, treemap, donut charts, bar charts, area charts, maps, tables, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

4. Tools and Software: Utilized Microsoft Excel for data preprocessing and basic analysis, and Microsoft Power BI for advanced data visualization and dashboard creation.

ANALYSIS AND INSIGHTS

During observation, several noteworthy findings have been identified, outlined as follows:

· The data collection for vaccinations spans the years 2020 to 2022, offering specific country visualizations through the line graph dropdown. Across 223 countries, a total of 2 trillion vaccinations were administered, reaching 731 billion individuals. On average, the world witnessed 11 billion daily vaccinations.

· Noteworthy nations with fully vaccinated citizens include the United States, Germany, France, Argentina, Belgium, Israel, Czechia, Switzerland, Ireland, and Estonia.

· Globally, 57% of the population has received partial vaccination, while 43% have been fully vaccinated.

· The top three countries with the highest daily vaccination rates are China, India, and the United States.

· In terms of citizens who are fully vaccinated, India leads the list, followed by the United States in the 2nd place, with China securing the 3rd position.

· All the relevant figures have been incorporated into the map, providing a visual representation of the country’s most significantly impacted. This map offers a global perspective on the prevalence and impact of COVID-19.

· A comprehensive list detailing the countries and the specific vaccines employed by each nation is available for reference.

RECOMMENDATION

  1. Global Vaccination Equity: Prioritize equitable vaccine distribution globally through collaborative initiatives.
  2. Data Transparency: Advocate for transparent and standardized reporting of vaccination data for more accurate cross-country comparisons.
  3. Targeted Campaigns: Tailor vaccination campaigns to address specific challenges in each country, especially focusing on regions with lower vaccination rates.
  4. Continuous Monitoring: Establish a continuous monitoring system to track progress, adapting strategies based on evolving trends.

CONCLUSION

The analysis highlights global efforts in combating COVID-19 through substantial vaccinations. Variations in vaccination rates, highly vaccinated countries, and global disparities provide crucial insights. This analysis informs decision-makers on strategies to enhance coverage, address disparities, and contribute to the global goal of overcoming the impact of COVID-19.
