In recent years, women are much less likely than men to major in STEM fields at the college level. In computer science,Engineering and Architecture specifically, there has been a dramatic decline: women earned 15 % of bachelor’s degrees in these fields in 2000 , but this proportion dropped to only 12.6%gradually by 2006 and remained stagnant around 12% until 2015.
Health science has been the favorite of women in which percent mastering in Health sciences is almost double to those opting for Proffesional Doctorate in same field and double as well to those opting a masters in STEM fields.

Women make up a very little part of the workforce in STEM ( science, technology, engineering, and math) and men vastly outnumber women majoring in most STEM fields in college. Historically women participation is seen very low since these fields originated in 18th Century. The gender gaps are exceptionally high in some of the fastest-growing and highest-paid jobs of the future, like computer science, Architecture and engineering for the years 2000 to 2015

Except in Computer science in all the professions number of women working in the field of their major is at part with men.

With the available data it is difficult to conclude reasons for relatively low number of women in the STEM fields but these may be looked in the angle of Social, Psychological and Innate perspectives.
