Project 1

AIM: Develop a double-acting actuator model using Simscape Multibody and Simscape components.

INTRODUCTION:

Cylinder Model:

The schematic shows the cylinder in three configurations. Half retracted, fully retracted, fully stretched.

Double-acting hydraulic actuator system:

is a double-acting hydraulic cylinder that causes the piston to contract and return the piston to its original position when high pressure hydraulic fluid is pumped to the upper port. This can be done quickly or very slowly, with precise control as needed.

Double acting hydraulic cylinders can pump hydraulic fluid to both sides of the piston. Ports located near both ends allow the piston rod to move back and forth. Additional ports provide better control of the plunger during pull-in and ensure that the plunger always returns to the starting point.
