Project 1

1.Buck converter and Boost converter are chosen for this project and the details of each converter along with its simulation results are discussed below.

1. Buckconveter

Buck convertor does DC-DC conversion.Buck converter step down DC voltage. It consists of Inductor, Capacitor and two switches which are transistor and diode.

given,V in = 40V-50v

V out =30V& Power = 500W

Calculated the values,

b. Duty Cycle =0.75

Ir = 16.6A

R=21.8 ohm

c. asssuming the switcing frequency =50KHz

d. Inductance = 0.24 mH

e.Capacitance = 8.33 * 10^-6 f

During ON Position , mosfet is Short circuited and the dodeis open circuit ,the input voltageis imposed onthe junction but thediode id reverse biased .( Vin- vout)

During off Position ,mosfet isopen circuited , thediode is short circuited , VL & Vout are parallel with-ve polarity.

2. Buck convereter with

V in = 400V-500v

V out =300V& Power = 5kW

Calculated the values,

b. Duty Cycle =0.75

Ir = 16.6A

R=21.8 ohm

c. asssuming the switcing frequency =50KHz

d. Inductance = 0.24 mH

e.Capacitance = 8.33 * 10^-6 f

3. Boostconvereter

A boost converter (step-up converter) is a DC-to-DC power converter that steps up voltage (while stepping down current) from its input (supply) to its output (load).The output capacitor is the one that filters the pulsating current and allows DC current to flow through the output.

given

V in = 20v-30v

V out =40V& Power = 600W

Calculated the values,

b. Duty Cycle =0.5

Ir = 29.9A

R=2.67 ohm

c. asssuming the switcing frequency =30KHz

d. Inductance = 5.56 *10^-6H

e.Capacitance = 62.4 * 10^-6 f
