Challenge

Problem set 2 -week 3 challenge : Anti-Characteristics

1, From given values load transfer, Front axle weight and Rear axle weight is found and by substituting it in formulas following values are obtained.

  • Front end deflection under load - 0.6315 in
  • Rear end deflection under load - 0.4871 in
  • Pitch angle - 0.6539 deg
  • Pitch gradient - 1.2979 deg/g

2, Using given IC values, Tyre radius, wheelbase and CG height values, following parameters are obtained.

  • Front anti-lift angle - 3.4536 deg
  • Rear anti-squat angle - 6.044 deg
  • Front swing arm angle for 100% anti-lift - 9.8411 deg
  • Rear swing arm angle for 100% anti-squat - 9.8411 deg
  • Front anti-lift % - 35.09%
  • Rear anti-lift % - 61.41%

3, To eliminate the pitch angle (theoretically), keep the rear swing arm height fixed at 16 inches from the contact patch and the rear swing arm horizontal distance from contact patch is reduced to 13.751 in,

  • Front anti-lift % - 35.0942 %
  • rear anti-squat % - 184.1323 %
  • Front end deflection under load - 0.4098 in
  • Rear end deflection under load - (-0.4098) in
  • Pitch angle - 0.0000324 (Approx. 0) deg
