prandtl meyer shock wave
The shock wave is created when the fluid flowing exceeds the velocity of the sound in that medium. In the region of the shock wave the energy is conserved wherease the entropy bleeds out. when an object travels at the speed of the sound in any medium, the sound waves cant travel further upstream to carry the disturbance of the object, therefore th esound wave which is actually a pressure wave , collapses against the object creating a region of high pressure, which later bleeds out into downstream.the properties of the downstream fluid flow are disimillar to that of the upstream after the shock wave , the change in the properties could be very drastic.depending upion the creation of the shock wave and the change in fluid properties in the downstream the shock waves can be classified as bow wave, normal shock wave, oblique shock wave. The velocity at the downstream of the bow and normal shock wave are usually subsonic , wherease in oblique shock wave it could be either supersonic or subsonic depending upon various factors.these various factors include the incident angle and the velocity of the fluid flow. the oblique shock waves forms predominantly when the flow strikes at the inclined surface or a pointed edge .the downstream velocity is goverened by equations.this simulation deals with the creation of oblique shock wave.
