PIPE FLOW SIMULATION WITH LINE PROBE USING SOLIDWORKS.
AIM: TO RUN A PIPE FLOW SIMULATION USING SOLIDWORKS.
OBJECTIVE:
- To create the Pipe with three-line probes, enclosed by lids.
- To perform Flow simulation study.
- To obtain a plot for velocity variation at a cross section.
- To export the results to a spreadsheet.
- To create flow simulation at 85%,90% and 95% of pipe length for three conditions-

OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this project is to illustrate the setup and solution of a 3D fluid flow in a pipe. The pipe networks are common in any engineering industry. It is important to know the development of a flow at the pipe entrance and pressure drop taking place along the pipe length. The flow of fluids in a pipe is widely studied fluid mechanics problem. The correlations for entry length and velocity profile are available in terms of flow Reynolds number.
CALCULATION:
Reynolds number, `Re= ρVD/μ`
Here,
ρ = Density of fluid (kg/m3)
V = Flow velocity (m/s)
D = Diameter of pipe (m)
µ = Dynamic viscosity of the fluid (pa.s)
here, Water is taken as a fluid so
ρ=1000 kg/m3
µ=8.9*10-4 pa.s
D=0.02 m
Then we will get the values of V at different Reynolds number, as
For Re=100: V=0.00445 m/s
For Re=1000: V=0.0445 m/s
For Re=10000: V=0.445 m/s
PROCEDURE:
Firstly, we will create the pipe with line probes, as –
