INTRODUCTION
SolidWorks is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) computer program that runs primarily on Microsoft Windows. While it is possible to run SolidWorks on MacOS, it is not supported by SolidWorks. SolidWorks is published by Dassault Systems.
Parameters refer to constraints whose values determine the shape or geometry of the model or assembly. Parameters can be either numeric parameters, such as line lengths or circle diameters, or geometric parameters, such as tangent, parallel, concentric, horizontal or vertical, etc. Numeric parameters can be associated with each other through the use of relations, which allow them to capture design intent. SolidWorks is a solid modeler, and utilizes a parametric feature-based approach which was initially developed by PTC (Creo/Pro-Engineer) to create models and assemblies.
USER INTERFACE OF SOLIDWORKS
- Menu Bar is present at the top most portion of the SolidWorks user interface. It contains a set of the most frequently used tool buttons such as New File, Open File, Save, Print, Undo, Select, Rebuild, File Properties, Options, SolidWorks Search commands and a fly out menu of Help options.
- Feature manager tree: The Feature Manager design tree on the left side of the SolidWorks window provides an Outline overview how your part, assembly or drawing constructed. This feature makes easy to edit or modify the properties of design by selecting individual tree function.
TRANSMISSION BELT
- A belt is a loop of flexible material used to link two or more rotating shafts mechanically, most often parallel. Belts may be used as a source of motion, to transmit power efficiently or to track relative movement. Belts are looped over pulleys and may have a twist between the pulleys, and the shafts need not be parallel.
- Belts are the cheapest utility for power transmission between shafts that may not be axially aligned.
- Belt drives are simple, inexpensive, and do not require axially aligned shafts. They help protect machinery from overload and jam, and damp and isolate noise and vibration.
KICKSTAND
- A kickstandis a device on a bicycleor motorcycle that allows the bike to be kept upright without leaning against another object or the aid of a person.
- A kickstand is usually a piece of metalthat flips down from the frameand makes contact with the ground.
- It is generally located in the middle of the bike or towards the rear. Some touring bicycleshave two: one at the rear, and a second in the front.
FRONT AND REAR FENDER
- This particular bike consists of front and rear fenders that serve an important purpose, which is to catch the water spraying off of a tire. So, another term for a bike fender would be a mudguard. Just like a car, something like that.
- If there's water on the ground, your tire rolls through it, that water is going to spray off of the tire, a lot of times up onto the back of the rider.
CHAINLINK
- A motorbike chain is a roller chain that transfers power from the pedals to the drive-wheel of a bicycle, thus propelling it. Most bicycle chains are made from plain carbon or alloy steel, but some are nickel-plated to prevent rust, or simply for aesthetics.
- The first chains were of a simple, bushing-less design. These had inherent reliability problems and a bit more friction (and mechanical efficiency losses) than modern chains.
FRONT AND REAR WHEEL
- The first bicycle wheels followed the traditions of carriage building: a wooden hub, a fixed steel axle (the bearings were located in the fork ends), wooden spokes and a shrink fitted iron tire.
- A typical modern wheel has a metal hub, wire tension spokes and a metal or carbon fiber rim which holds a pneumatic rubber tire.
- Harley Davidson chopper uses high performance tires, made of high tensile steel wires with a rubber impregnated cloth casing.
OIL TANK
- A fuel tank (or petrol tank) is a safe container for flammable fluids. Though any storage tank for fuel may be so called, the term is typically applied to part of an engine system in which the fuel is stored and propelled (fuel pump) or released (pressurized gas) into an engine.
- Fuel tanks range in size and complexity from the small plastic tank of a butane lighter to the multi-chambered cryogenic Space Shuttle external tank.
- Storage of fuel: the system must contain a given quantity of fuel and must avoid leakage and limit evaporative emissions.
- Filling: the fuel tank must be filled in a secure way, without sparks.
- Provide a method for determining level of fuel in tank, gauging (the remaining quantity of fuel in the tank must be measured or evaluated).
- Venting (if over-pressure is not allowed, the fuel vapors must be managed through valves).
- Feeding of the engine (through a pump).
- Anticipate potentials for damage and provide safe survival potential.
FRONT FORK
- A motorcycle fork connects a motorcycle's front wheel and axle to its frame, typically via a yoke, also known as a triple clamp, which consists of an upper yoke joined to a lower yoke via a steering stem, a shaft that runs through the steering head, creating the steering axis.
- Most forks incorporate the front suspension and front brake, and allow the front wheel to rotate about the steering axis so that the bike may be steered.
- Most handlebars attach to the top clamp in various ways, while clip-on handlebars clamp to the fork tubes, either just above or just below the upper triple clamp.
- A telescopic fork uses fork tubes which contain the suspension components (coil springs and damper) internally. This is the most common form of fork commercially available. It may or may not include gaiters for protection against abrasive elements on the suspension cylinders.
ASSEMBLY OF CHOPPER
- Finally all the components that are modeled are saved into individual folders, which are further used in composing the assembly inside of the assembly environment and place all of our components properly using mate option.
- All the components are opened and a new assembly file is created, in which the components will be mated together using various mate options such as: coincident, concentric, parallel, tangent mates respectively.
- We use the chassis as the fixed component, so that in the later on stages when all the components are fixed we can use float option on the chassis and mate the top plane and the kickstand, that way we get a pretty realistic image of the chopper. Figure represents assembly mate options and coincident mate.
PHOTOVIEW 360 AND RENDERING
- Photoview 360 is interesting feature which can be turned on in the tool bar by clicking on solidworks add ins.
- We make use of the render tools option to edit decals, scenes, appearance and stuff. There are a wide variety of options we can choose from to edit scenes and appearances.
- There are basic scenes, studio scenes, presentation scenes, background scenes from which we can choose the suitable one that perfectly fits our model.
Lights and camera tools are one of the most efficient tool to make the model look as realistic as possible, with adjusting of different types of lights such as directional lights, point lights, spot lights, sunlight’s and walkthroughs.
