DESIGN AND ASSEMBLY OF AMERICAN CHOPPER
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this designing is to understand the function and usage of all commands, tools and shortcuts of toolbars in solid works
INTRODUCTION
SOLIDWORKS is a very productive 3D CAD software tool, with its integrated analytical tools and design automation to help stimulate physical behavior such as kinematics, dynamics, stress, deflection, vibration, temperatures or fluid flow to suit all types of design. SOLIDWORKS is an easy to use parametric design modular, meaning you can easily edit the design at any stage in the design process. Real View graphics allow you to visualize your design in real time Photo View 360 can create sophisticated photo realistic renderings and animations
DESIGN METHODOLOGY
FRONT FENDER
TOOLS/COMMANDS USED
SKECTH : The sketch is the basis for a 3D model. You can create a sketch on any of the default planes (Front Plane, Top Plane, and Right Plane), or a created plane.
REVOLVE : Revolves add or remove material by revolving one or more profiles around a centerline. You can create revolved boss/bases, revolved cuts, or revolved surfaces. The revolve feature can be a solid, a thin feature, or a surface. Create a sketch that contains one or more profiles and a Centre line or an edge to use as the axis around which the feat revolve tools
SPLIT: The sketch lines are projected onto the selected faces, and divide the faces into multiple regions as defined by the sketch. Once the split line is created, these selected regions can have a different appearance than the other regions, and function as a separate face. This tool is used to project an entity onto other surface or curved or planar faces. You can also split faces on multiple bodies with one command.
FILLET: This feature creates a rounded internal or external face on the part. You can Fillet all the edges of a face, edges, loops etc.

TOOLS/COMMANDS USED
LOFT: Loft creates a feature by making transitions between profiles. A loft can be a base, boss, cut, or surface. You create a loft using two or more profiles. Only the first, last, or first and last profiles can be points. All sketch entities, including guide curves and profiles, can be contained in a single 3D sketch.
DOME: This feature is majorly applied to faces. Select one or more planar or non-planar faces. You can apply dome to faces whose centroid lies outside the face. This allows you to apply domes to irregularly shaped contours.
SKECTH: The sketch is the basis for a 3D model. You can create a sketch on any of the default planes (Front Plane, Top Plane, and Right Plane), or a created plane.
CUT EXTRUDE: You can use the Extrude tool to remove material by projecting a sketched section normal to the sketching plane. You can use open or closed sections to create a cut. Removing material using a closed section creates a slot. To create a cut, use the same depth options as for extruded protrusions
BOSS EXTRUDE : To create a 3d solid by using the 2d sketch
SPLIT : The sketch lines are projected onto the selected faces, and divide the faces into multiple regions as defined by the sketch. Once the split line is created, these selected regions can have a different appearance than the other regions, and function as a separate face. SHELL : The shell tool hollows out a part, leaves open the faces you select, and creates thin-walled features on the remaining faces. If you do not select any face on the model, you can shell a solid part, creating a closed, hollow model. You can also shell a model using multiple thicknesses

SURFACE SWEEP: Creates a sweep by moving a 2D profile along a 2D or 3D sketch path. Sets the profile (section) used to create the sweep. Select the profile in the graphics area or Feature Manager design tree. You can select faces, edges, and curves directly from models as sweep profiles. The profile may be open or closed for a surface sweep feature. Sets the path along which the profile sweeps. Select the path in the graphics area or Feature Manager design tree. The path can be open or closed, and can be a set of sketched curves contained in one sketch, a curve, or a set of model edges. The start point of the path must lie on the plane of the profile
SURFACE TRIM: You can use a surface, plane, or sketch as a trim tool to trim intersecting surfaces. Create two or more surfaces that intersect at one or more points, or create a surface that intersects with a plane or has a sketch on its face.
SURFACE LOFT: Create a plane for each profile section of the loft. Sketch the section profiles on the planes. ... You can create all section and guide curve sketches inside a single 3D sketch.
KNIT SURFACE: Use the Knit Surface tool to combine two or more faces and surfaces into one.

ASSEMBLY OF AMERICAN CHOPPER
All the components will be assembled using these relations
Coincident
Coincident mate is a mate between two features that you want to coincide with each other
Example
Concentric
Places two cylindrical, spherical or conical faces of a part so that they share the same centerline
Example
Parallel
Keeps selected items at a constant distance from each other
Limit angle
Allows components to move within a range of values for distance and angel mates
Width
A width mate constrains a tab between two planar faces
