Motion Analysis Of Machine Vice
AIM:
Motion analysis of machine vice.
OBJECTIVES:
- Kinematic study of the machine vice system.
- To plot the graph of linear displacement of movable jaw vs time.
- To trace the path of handle.
BODY OF CONTENT:
Machine vice is a simple mechanism used to hold the workpiece during machining operations such as drilling, milling etc.

The parts are subjected to medium to high load to resist the clamping force, that's why it has made of cast iron.
Here there are basically four parts designed in solidworks.
1. Fixed Jaw
2. Moable Jaw
3. Screw
4. Handle
Final Assembly in solidworks:
- Now after the assembly open the solidworks motion from the add ins. Select motion analysis from the list.
- After that assign rotary motor to the screw with speed of 10 RPM.
- Now assign the screw & movable jaw having nut as a contact bodies.
- Last step is to assign gravity in the downward direction.(Y direction in my case)
- Calculate the motion.
RESULTS:
finally clicking on the graph & select linear discplacement of part as a function of time & click the movable part.
And for tracing the path of the screw select trace path option.
CONCLUSION:
We can concluded displacement vs time graph & trace path from this motion analysis.
