Modelling and simulation of flow through a flowbench

Modelling and simulation of flow through a flowbench

Aim - Create a 3D model of a flow bench and run flow analysis.

Objectives -

1.Grid dependence test

2. Effect of valve lift on mass flow rate.

Theory

Geometry

Boundary Conditions

Inlet Velocity at the inlet manifold - 2000 m/s

Static pressure at the exit - 101325 pa

Grid dependency test

3 types of mesh are selected with channel refinement toselect the best mesh for the analysis

Observation from Grid dependency test

From the above plots and results , we conclude that the MESH REFINEMENT of 5 gives the most accurate results of the mass flow rates and hence for the further analysis we select GRID REFINEMENT -5 for better results.

Effect of Valve lift on mass flow Rate

Observation

From the abbove analysis we infer that,

1. Mass Flow rate increases as the valve lift increases.

2. Velocity inside the cylinder increases as the valve lift increases.

3. The flow becomes more turbulent as the valve lift increases.

Conclusion

Hence, the analysis is done as per the requirement and the results are displayed.
