Internal Geneva Mechanism

Motion Analysis of Internal Geneva Mechanism

Perfomed Motion Analysis on Internal Geneva Mechanism under three dfifferent conditions:

1) With10RPM, 24FPS and without Precise Contact

a) Angular Displacement Of Driven Wheel

Refer to the attached graph named " Angular Displacement 25 FPS 10RPM "

We find out that the Angular Displacement is continiously increasing w.r.t. time .

It shows that the RPM applied is able to rotate the driven wheel properly.

b) Contact Forces between Driver and Driven Wheel

Refre to the attached graph named "Contact Force With FPS 25 and 10RPM"

We find out that at the start there is a bit of contact force to give a kind of push to driven wheen which then remains constant till 6 seconds and then there is spike to about 200N because of the contact between wheels then this force goes down and remains 0N till 10 seconds and by the time the driver wheel goes into the next slot the contact force spikes to more than 1000N because of a kind of impact between driver and driven wheen and then it follows the same pattern as it was at start.

2) Angular Displacement with FPS 60 and 120

Angular displacement will ramains same for all three conditions 24, 60 and 120 FPS

3) Contact Forces without Precise Contact

Precise Contact calculates the contact between bodies/edges perfectly and hence calculate the contact forces accordingly.

Please refer to the attached graph "Contact Force With FPS 60 without precise contact and 10RPM" & "Contact Force With FPS 120 without precise contact and 20RPM"

In 60FPS and 10 RPM contact forces spikes at 6 seconds, 12 seconds & 18 seconds with a value of 2250N, 2200N & 1250N.

In 120FPS and 20 RPM contact forces spikes at close to 5, 10, 13.5, 17 & 20 seconds with a value of 3700N, 2900N, 3000N, 2500N & 3000N .

4) Contact Forces with Precise Contact

Please refer to the attached graph "Contact Force With FPS 60 with precise contact and 10RPM" & "Contact Force With FPS 120 with precise contact and 20RPM"

In FPS60 with 10 RPM contact forces spikes at close to 0, 6, 12, 18 sec with a value of 3N, 200N, 1120N & 1600N.

In FPS 120 and 20 RPM contact forces spikes at close to 6, 10, 14, 17 & 20 sec with a value of 4200N, 3600N, 3600N, 4800N & 5400N
