Internal Geneva Mechanism
AIM:
Studying the Internal geneva mechanism through multibody dynamics using solid works
OBJECTIVE:
There are several objectives
1.creating Geneva 3d body(with complete assembly).
2. Perform motion analysis by rotating the driver wheel at different rpm.
3.obtaining the plots of angular displacement of the driven wheel and angular velocity of the driver at different rpm along with and without considering precise contact by taking the corresponding Frames per second based on the rpm.
GENEVA MECHANISM:
APPLICATION:
Even it is used in CNC machines and wristwatches.
PROCEDURE:
1.Creating a solid body of geneva driver and driven components using solid works
2. Assembling them with proper constraints.
3. Go to the toolbar and make sure that solid works add on is on.
4. Go to the motion study and change the animation to motion analysis and make contacts of the solid body.
5. Add a motor to the driver axis with required rpm i.e., 10rpm and 20 rpm. (this is w/o precise contact)
6.plot the following graphs
i)The angular displacement of a driven wheel
ii)Angular velocity of the driver wheel
iii)Contact force between the Pin of the driver and slot face of the driven wheel
7. Make precise contact and with respective frame speed based on rpm and plot the same graphs as above.
8. Save animation of the MBD.
RESULT AND DISCUSSION
1. Solid-body and different graphs have been attached through zip file.
2.precise contact: The computed contact is analytically correct, but the computation can take longer than an approximate solution. This is the most accurate contact solver. It gives plots accurately.
3. Angular velocity of the driver is constant in all the different conditions since the motor is at a constant speed
4. Contact force plot illustrates the magnitude of the force applied by the driver pin on the driven wheel slot.
