Hood design-Week 2

OBJECTIVE

This assingment is about designing the HOOD oo BONNET with considering engineering aspect as well as manufacturing requirement with help of UG-NX 12.

ABOUT HOOD

A car HOOD is the metal part that covers the engine of an automobile.A car hood, also referred to as a bonnet in some other countries, is the hinged cover that rests over the engine of a front-engine vehicle. Its purpose is to provide access to the engine for repair and maintenance.

PURPOSE OF HOOD

* To cover engine and other components

* To provide access for engine maintenance.

* Reduces the noise comes from engine.

* Safety purpose for pedestrians.

MAIN COMPONENTS OF HOOD

* Hood outer panel.

* Hood inner panel.

* Latch

* Hinges

* Reinforcement etc

Latch trajectory

Latch trajectory which helps to hood for closing and opening

MASTIC DATA

Mastic is kind of glue which helps in automobile industry to provide rubbery attachment between parts.

For mastic process between inner panel and outer panel I given 3 mm gap between them.

EMBOSS

Embossing is a forming process in which a high pressure is applied to a workpiece to change its surface. Depending on the shape.

HEMMING

Hemming is a sheet metal forming process in which sheets are joined by bending it to 180°. Automotive body panels and automotive parts such as deck-lids, trunk-lids, doors, hoods and tailgates are formed by hemming process. In this process, usually a sheet is bent with the help of inner sheet in three different stages.

DEEP DRAWING

Deep drawing is a sheet metal forming process in which a sheet metal blank is radially drawn into a forming die by the mechanical action of a punch. It is thus a shape transformation process with material retention. The process is considered "deep" drawing.

RELIEF CORNER

About Corner Relief. Use the Corner Relief tool to add relief to one or more corners of a sheet metal part. When you add relief, sheet metal sections are removed from the model.
