CHT ANALYSIS OF GRAPHICS CARD
In this simulation we are performing conjugated heat transfer analysis on graphics card with 2 types of mesh conditions. Heat is biggest problem in electronics , it can reduce life of the part. It is necessary that electronics work in certain limits for longer life.
- CHT couples the transfer of thermal energy between the fluid and solid parts of the domain. The introduction of this coupling brings several new applications like heat exchanger, heating and cooling system.
- CHT analysis used to determine overall heat transfer co-efficient, temperature variation in the system, how fast system going to heat up or cool down.
- CHT can be used to optimize several system like water jacket, Blades of turbine ( complex heat transfer mechanism), High voltage systems, etc.
Graphics card material
- Processor – gold
- Base- Steel
- Fins – Copper
Assumptions
- Inlet velocity- 8 m/s
- Processor TDP – 15 W
Setup (ANSYS)
- Energy – On
- Viscous model – K-epsilon standard model with standard wall function
- Solving method- Hybrid
- Heat generation = TDP/volume = 15/(64*10^-9 ) = 230000000 W/m^3
3D Model
We are performing two simulation with two different size of meshing for all components to compare to results. [Share topology enable in Spaceclaim]
