Design of front wheel of an American Chopper
FRONT WHEEL:
procedure:
)open a new part with model units set to millimetres
)Select the front plane and create a sketch by clicking on the 2d sketch icon
)Draw a midpoint line of length 110mm and width 40mm and draw another sketch attached to it as shown in the figure
)Then revolve the sketch taking 110mm line as reference
)Now select the right plane and start sketching as shown in figure
)Now extrude the sketch using midplane option with 110mm distance and a thickness of 10mm and deselect the merge result
)Again draw the same sketch with replacing the dimensions(18mm horizontal line into 6mm horizontal line and 30 degrees angle into 10 degrees and 180mm vertical dimension into 301mm and 68mm horizontal dimension into 51mm) and extrude the sketch with the same dimensions with that of first extrude and deselect the merge result
)Now select the front plane and mirror the extruded bodies
)Now select the right plane and draw 3 circles with dimensions 215mm,350mm and 485mm
)Now offset the edges of the mirrored extruded bodies in the reverse direction with a length 4.5mm
)Now trim the unwanted portion of 3 cirlces and you will observes points on the offset lines and draw 3point arcs on joining these points and make them all equal except the bottom centred line
)Dimension for the upper arc is 200mm radius, middle arc is 75mm radius and the ends of the bottome arcs is 15mm and middle one is 20mm
)After you make them equal offet the lines 8mm downward and trim the unwanted portion of the lines
)Join the lines and make the sketch defined and exit the sketch
)Now extrude the sketches by using midplane option with a 110mm dimension and deselect the merge result
)Click on the circular pattern and select the bodies to pattern and give the instances as 3
)Select the convert entities and click on the inside face of the rib and two lines will appear on the top and bottom of the face, delete the bottom line
)Select the front plane and draw a new sketch as shown in the figure
)Click on the revolved cut option and cut the sketch part from the body
)Go to>insert>features>combine and select all the bodies to combine and make them single body
)Click on the fillet option and select the two faces of the body and radius of the fillet as 4mm and click ok
)Select the right plane and click on the 2d sketch option to draw the rotor
)Draw a circle from the centre point with diameter 345mm and extrude the sketch with a offset distance of 45mm and thickness of 7mm
)Click on the rotor and select sketch
)Draw a circle with 8mm radius at a distance of 160mm from the centre point
)click on the circular pattern and select 4 instances with 20mm distance between them and 320degrees angle and exit the sketch
27) Click on the extrude cut option and select through all option and deselct the auto select to only rotor
)Click on the circular pattern and select the extruded cut and select the 14 instances with equal sharing
)Click on the rotor plate to sketch as shown in the figure
)Do the extruded cut by selecting through all option and deselect the auto select to rotor
)Add 5mm fillet to the edges of the extruded cut
)Click on the circular pattern and select the extruded cut and select the 10 instances with equal sharing
)Click on the rotor to sketch and draw a circle of 40mm diameter and cut that part from the body by selecting through all option
)Click on the rotor to sketch the caliber as shown in the figure
)Extrude the sketch with 19.50mm in one direction and 10.5mm in one direction
)Add chamfer to the face with distance by distance option(first distance=6mm and second distance=20mm)
)Add 5mm fillet to the edges of the chamfer
)Select the front plane and draw a sketch as shown in the figure
)Exit the sketch and revolve the sketch
)Click on the intersection curves and select the edge of the rim and make it a construction line
)Select the front plane and sketch as shown in the figure
)Exit the sketch and click on the extrude cut
)Select the offset from surface option and at an offset distance of 450mm from the plane and a direction of 4mm do the extrude
)Fillet the edges of the extruded cut
)Click on the circular pattern and select the extruded cut and fillet with 14 instances and click ok
)Hide all the reference planes and sketches
)Save the file and exit
