Foundation Design using SAFE
FOUNDATION DESIGN USING SAFE
AIM -
TO STUDY THE FOUNDATION DESIGN USING SAFE.
INTRODUCTION-
- CSI SAFE (Slab Analysis by the Finite Element Method) is the best tool for designing concrete slabs and foundations.
- SAFE provides easiness to engineers towards the safe design of structures with powerful tools like drawing, analyzing, designing and detailing, etc.
- Laying out models is a quick and efficient way with the user-friendly drawing tools, or the users can import model layouts from AutoCAD or loading conditions from other software like CSI ETABS and CSI SAP2000.
TASK 1 - Model the isolated footing provided in the week 11 challenge on SAFE. Analyze and design it to verify the size, depth, and steel provided as per calculations.

Check for Settlement

- Maximum displacement (6.77mm) is way lesser than the permissible value stated by the codes (25mm). Hence, OK.
Punching Shear Check

- Allowable punching shear value is equal to unity. Hence, OK.
Base Reactions at Piles

- Our pile-bearing capacity is 200KN. Hence, OK.
