Flow over an airfoil
Introduction:
The study of cavitation is very important as it affects mass flow rates coming into a cylinder via fuel injectors. Cavitation occurs because of sudden drop in pressure heads and this occurs because of abrupt change in flow area.
When flow area suddenly decreases, there creates a zone of low pressure or separation zone.

% engine parametrics using function command
function [V] = otto_cycle(bore,stroke,con_rod,cr,start_crank,end_crank)
a = stroke/2 ; % crank pin radius
R = con_rod/a;
theta = linspace(start_crank, end_crank, 100);
v_swept = (pi/4)*(bore^2)*stroke;
v_clearance = v_swept/(cr - 1);
% v = 1 + term1*(term2 - (term3)^0.5) where
term1 = 0.5*(cr - 1);
term2 = R + 1 - cosd(theta);
term3 = (R^2 - sind(theta).^2).^0.5;
% V = (1 + term1*(term2 - (term3).^0.5) % again mistake in writing a formula.
% the correct formula is :
V = (1 + term1*(term2 - term3)).*v_clearance ;
