Final Project: Design of an Electric Vehicle

Create a MATLAB model of electric car which uses a battery and a DC motor. Choose suitable blocks from Powertrain block set. Prepare a report about your model including following

To start with the model initially we start with the vehile body in which we added magic tire formula for 'all 4 tyres and connnected their hubs and axles

connections of these tyres are done with a simscape vehicle body block which gives input of normal force rear and front etc.

AFTER all these make a subsystem out of these blocks, and coonect rear and front wheels inside the subsystem

after the subsystem creation ,as our vehicle is rear wheel drive we connect our rear wheels to a dc motor block

and then add a mechanical reference

connect the dc motor block to a hbridge and we have battery system and current sensor between h bridge and motor

the controlled volatage source deonotes a ideal voltage source which has defined voltage regardless of the current passing through it

for input of h bridge we add a controlled PWM voltage block and connect all the blocks PWM TO PWM

REF TO REF ETC.

THEN WE add a solver configuration to the block

our brk is then connected to a controlled voltage source

Ref+IS also been under voltage source

a mechanical and a electrical reference is added to mechanical and electrical systems to provide ground to both these systems.

longitudinal driver block is present to have a virtual look at the model as driver takes decisions about accltn deceleration etc.

simulation time -time for which the simulation is been run, each drive cycle has its own time duration which needs to be updated in simulation ,each time the drive cycele is changed

We try to do the simulaation in FTP AND UDDS drive cycle

SOC%-it is the state of charge of battery which decreases when vehicle is accelrated

distance travelled -total distance covered by the vehicle

we can clearly see as vehicle moves or accelerates the soc from fully charged

it gradually falls to 0% as vehicle is travelling certain distance
