FINAL INDEPENDENT PROJECT
Independent Research Project
In order to qualify for a merit certificate, you will have to work on an independent project. This cannot be a Simulation/Program/Design that was demonstrated by the instructors. There are 3 phases to this project.
Phase 1 - Provide the project title and objectives (Maximum of 2 slides) 10% of total score
Phase 2 - Complete the simulation and project presentation (Maximum of 20 slides) 30% of total score
Phase 3 - Project live presentation (40 minutes) 60% of total score
Phase 1
- Pick up a physical system or setup which you want to analyze using simulation tools, design software or computer programs
- Explain what you plan on calculating through this simulation/program/design
- Explain the engineering significance of your project
Phase 2
- Provide detailed objectives and motivation for the project
- Provide geometry information, if applicable
- Provide information on Physical model selection, Boundary and Initial condition selections, if applicable
- Provide information on your code structure, module and libraries used, if applicable.
- Provide information on how engineering outputs are calculated
- Provide detailed post processing results
- Validation with experimental data is preferred but not required
Phase 3
- You will present your project before a technical panel via online conference
- Your project score will be based on this presentation
Rules for working on the independent project
- You can get guidance on finalizing your topic and outputs that you wish to calculate
- You CANNOT get guidance from SKILL-LYNC or any other sources on finishing your project
- You need to create a detailed project report and presentation. Project report should be hosted on projects.skill-lync.com
- You SHOULD NOT Plagiarize. Copying work from others will result in 0 score. There will be no appeal process
- During support hours, you can discuss results from the projects. You SHOULD NOT ask for a walkthrough to help finish the project
- SKILL-LYNC will not provide the final topic. You will have to make the selection on your own.
- You need to finish this project within 4 months of your course enrollment. If you think this rule should not apply to you, get in touch with us.
NOTE:
The Project should be submitted according to the Phases mentioned above. ZERO marks will be provided if the above instructions are not followed.
