FINAL INDEPENDENT PROJECT

FINAL INDEPENDENT PROJECT:

Design and Assembly of wheel:

1. Wheel:

A wheel is a circular component that is intended to rotate on an axle bearing.

A wheel reduces friction by facilitating motion by rolling together with the use of axles.

the frictional work is greatly reduced because:

The normal force at the sliding interface is same as with simple dragging.

The sliding distance is reduced for a given distance of travel.

The coefficient of friction at the interface is usually lower.

2.Brake caliper

The calliper is the house of brake pads and pistons. Brakes produce friction with the brake rotors.

Inside each calliper is a pair of metal plates known as brake pads.

Brake fluid creates pressure on pistons in the brake calliper, forcing the pads against the brake rotor and slowing your vehicle.

The heat generated from the braking system can weaken and break down seals inside the callipers.

3.Disc:

A spokeless vehicular wheel, especially on automobiles, having a heavy circular pressed-steel disk mounted on the wheel hub and supporting the tire rim on its outer edge.

Disc wheels are faster than your traditional shallow spoked wheels in almost all conditions apart from hilly or windy conditions.

Disc wheels work by smoothing the passage of side wind.

4. Rim

The rim is the "outer edge of a wheel, holding the tire". It makes up the outer circular design of the wheel on which the inside edge of the tire is mounted on vehicles.

Various metals can be used for the rim. Commonly seen are alloy ( magnesium and aluminium), mag (magnesium), aluminium, and chrome. Teflon coatings are sometimes also applied for an extra layer of protection

5. Rotor pin :

The brake calliper guide pins are two round metal pins on each brake calliper where the brake piston assembly sits.

They're called guide pins because they're responsible for guiding the proper angle for how the brake pad meets the disc

The little rubber calliper bolt “Sleeves”(thee most common name for these) are anti-rattle devices for the calliper.

6. Hub :

The hub is responsible for connecting a wheel to a vehicle.

The wheel hug connects to the vehicle's wheel axle, this is located on the brake disc side of the chassis.

A device that fills an important role in supporting a car by the wheels, and integrates the bearings and the surrounding components.

As a result, it connects to both the wheel and the vehicle itself

7. Oil seal :

Oil seals are used to protect shafts and bearings from ingress of dirt and foreign matter and egress of oil or grease.

An oil seal generally consists of an outer circular metal part and an inner flexible member that does the actual sealing and is bonded to the metal part by chemical adhesive agents.

The seals also prevent dirt and other contaminants from clogging up the unit.used to prevent lubricant leaks by closing in the spaces between a transmission's parts.

8. Rotor hat :

A hat is a precision machined, threaded hole design for use in conjunction with through-hole mount rotors.

After machining, the hats are electro-coated for corrosion resistance.

Wilwood's Truck hats are precision machined from premium aluminum alloys for high strength and attention to minimized weight

9. Stud :

The studs on your wheel hubs, along with the lug nuts, keep your wheels firmly attached to the wheel hubs and axles on all four corners of your vehicle.

Wheel studs are nothing more than large bolts that are designed to fit securely into your wheel hubs.

Assembly:

Import the individual part files.

Use the mate comment to attach the parts with help of the coordinate system.

Precision Dimensions are required to achieve assembly.

Make sure that each part of the assembly is fully defined.

Conclusion:

SolidWorks was used to model each component. All of the pieces are put together using SolidWorks Assembly tools. the import of the assembly into SolidWorks Create visuals and lifelike renderings
