AIR-WATER COOLED COOLER

STUDY OF COLLING OF AIR WITH WATER AREGMENT

Abstract : In a refrigerator, water is cooled with the help of refrigerant, which is circulated around the freezer chamber. Typically, a refrigerator Cooling is replaced by water which maintained at constant temperature with the help of thermoelectric cooler, working on peltier effect can provide high cooling rates while operating on DC electric source. TEMs can achieve sub-zero surface temperatures within a few seconds. An attempt has been made to use TEM for freezing of water. Water can be frozen without any refrigerant with the help of such TEMs while remarkably reducing the freezing time to 3 mins. A design of a rapid cooling machine working on thermoelectric effect has been discussed in this paper. To obtain rapid cooling without humidity and less electricity consumption. Main role of thermoelectric cooler to cool the water and maintained minimum temperature that’s why over second component cooling of air with the help of water, it works similar principal of heat exchanger.

INTRODUCTION Thermoelectric Modules (TEMs) are heat pumps which perform cooling function same as that of a vapour compression cycle refrigerator. These modules are entirely solid state with no moving parts. The base material for module construction is Bismuth Telluride with doping with various materials like antimony, tellurium, bismuth and selenium.

With application of DC voltage, the charge carriers in the bismuth telluride pellet absorb heat energy from one surface and dump in the other surface .

TEMs have Co-efficient Of Performance (COP) in the range of 0.25 to 0.4 and the heat pumping capacity reduces as the temperature difference between the cold and hot side increases. Due to this, TE devices cannot provide solution to every cooling problem, however, they are best considered when system requirement calls for high reliability, small size and rapid cooling.

Second portion of cooling of air which is flow in pipes and those pipes are immersed in water, water is very basic coolant and is cooled the pipes constantly.

EXPERIMENTS : there is arranged a simple frizzing or non thermal conductive box (500mm x 300mm x 400mm) and inside of the box placed arraignment of cooper pipes 40mm diameter and 1.5 meter total length pipes, inside the flow of air powered by external fan pump the air inside threw pipe and other opening cooled air achieved. and outsides immersed in water, the main target to cooling of water so air to water heat transfer can be achieved. For cooling og water have provides assembly of TEM and heat sink. TEM is attached to heat sink by means of thermal paste. The paste acts as an adhesive between heat sink and TEM while reducing the contact resistance. The heat sink is cooled by circulating of water attached setup between TEM and heat sink .TEM is powered by a 12V power supply.

Volume equip by water 0.06m3

Copper pipes equip volume 0.007 m3

Cooling temperature output 20 degree celsius

Temperature of air input 30 degree celsius

Water temperature kept 20 degree celsius constant in experiment which is cooling by TEM.

This is only preformed in solid works simulation not in experimental and it just besed on idea of cooling may be some calculation wary in experiment.

This is the actual model of my project.

When I take there simulation of reduction of temp of air the graph is obtained temperature with respect to length of pipe :

there is simple matlab program to read data which is provided by solidworks and plot this data by the program:

clear all
close all
clc

f1 = fopen('data_temp.txt','r');
fgetl(f1)
a = fscanf(f1,'%f')
temprature = a(1:2:end)
Length = a(2:2:end)

xlabel('Length')
ylabel('temprature')
plot(Length,temprature)

there are some figur which show the variation of temp when air flow in the pipes :
