Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Introduction:
All vehicle manufacturing companies must follow a certain set of norms for their production of the vehicle. These norms are set by authorities of government or control bodies of different countries. One such norm is given specifically for the production of wheel arch gap by different countries for different cars.
European Regulations:

- As per Europe standard, the gap between the wheel and the fender arch “L” as shown in the figure at different sections should be above 10 mm.
Study Procedure:
- The skin data is given to us.
- The sketch is created along with the wheel along the radial side perpendicular to the axis of the wheel. The wheel outer circle and the arch is projected.
- The required sections are drawn.
- All the points of intersection between the arch and the section lines are taken and projected to the horizontal plane.
- A new sketch is drawn parallel to the horizontal plane along with the topmost point in the wheel arch.
- The wheel arch and the section points are projected.
- The distance between the arch and the points are measured and tabulated.

Conclusion and Inference:
The study for the European standard for arch design is done for the given skin data and the results are tabulated. The section SB alone passes the norms set by the European standards.
