Fender :
Fender is the american english term fro the part of an automobile, motorcycle or other vehicle body that frames a wheel well(the fender underside). its primary purpose is to prevent sand,mud,rocks,liquids, and other road spray from being thrown into the air by rotating tyre. it also plays important role in preventiing injuries to pedestrians.
In above figure we can see both front and back fender of a vehicle
Types of Fender
- Full bumper fender
- Half bumper fender
Half bumper fender is used more Because it has less scrap and ease in manufacturing.
Material used for fender
- Steel
- Aluminium
- Thermoplastic
- Fiberglass
Steel is the most rigid and abrasion resistance material used in making fender.they offer the best protection from large debris and are less likely to dent.
Aluminium offer the strength of metal without the heaviness of steel.
