AIM:- Design a front fender from the given skin data and the master section provided with Drip mounting, A-pillar, Sill, Bumper, C mounting and Splash mountings.
What is the Purpose of Fender on a Car?
The purpose of a fender is pretty simple. Its purpose is to keep mud, rocks, and other road debris from being thrown around by the tires. In other words, the fender is a housing for the wheels that keeps road debris contained. If there was nothing covering the wheels, all kinds of debris would be kicked up by the rotating tires.
When vehicle is moving, tires pick up stones and others and hurl them in all directions. Fenders are basically present to prevent any injuries to pedestrians and contain the motion of these particles
Fender Types
1.Full bumper type:-
- its protected whole wheels.
- contain large material.

2.Half bumper types:-
- Contain less material in compared to full bumper type.
- increasing the performance of the car.

There are 5 mounting points in a Fender
They are
- Body
- A pillar
- Sill
- Cowl
- Drip
Drip Area Mount
drip area mounting attached to the engine compartment of the car. fender drip area is mounted with fastener.while desiging the drip area we have to provided min 200-300 mmm space from cowl and at least 150 mm from headlamp.
Embossing are provided on the mountingto strengthen them during fastening.
A Pillar Mount
The A-Pillar area mounting depaend upon the car. the mountig can also be provided with ribs to stengthen the part. this mounting is critical in design as it has to be mounted on A-pillor properly.

Bumper Mount
A structure attached to or integrated on front and rear to absorb impact in collision there reducing maintenance cost . this are designed in such a way that they mitgate injary to pedestrain legs through use of soft materails like foam ,crushable plastics etc Fender wiil be attached to bumper through bummper mountings.

Splash Cover Mount
For improvemnet of NVH in car , usually a baffle is mounted on the fender of the car. it is mounted on the Wheeel arch area .

Sill Area Mount
Sill is the panel diractly below the bottom of the door supporting the floor and may be used to combine the floor and the body. The bottomend of the fender is mounted on the sill body for reinfocrement of the fender panel thus the sill mounting position is designed with holes and emboss.
