Design of front Fender

This project focuses on designing and developing a car fender, a component of the vehicle’s body structure. The objective is to create a lightweight, durable, and aesthetically cohesive fender that integrates seamlessly with the vehicle’s overall design. The fender design incorporates advanced material selection, precise mounting points for secure attachment, and modern manufacturing processes like deep drawing and stamping.

Design and development of a car Hood

    Objective:

This project is to design a car hood that meets high standards of safety, functionality, and aesthetics while optimizing for lightweight construction, aerodynamic efficiency, and manufacturing feasibility. The design will incorporate advanced materials and manufacturing techniques such as deep-drawing and hemming to achieve a balance between structural integrity and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the project aims to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce noise and vibration through the strategic use of mastic and embossing, ensuring the hood meets all relevant automotive industry regulations.

      Week 9 - Challenge 3 - Bumper

      Objective:

In this project, I designed a plastic bumper component using CATIA V5, starting from a given Class-A surface while ensuring manufacturability and industry compliance. The key steps involved: ✅ Tooling Axis Creation – Developed a proper tooling axis to facilitate smooth mold release, ensuring it met the required draft angle specifications. ✅ Class-B & Class-C Surface Development – Created Class-B and Class-C surfaces to complete the solid model while maintaining design intent and manufacturability. ✅ Wall Thickness Application – Maintained a uniform 3 mm thickness to ensure structural integrity and efficient molding. ✅ Draft Analysis – Conducted a draft analysis to verify the feasibility of the design for injection molding, ensuring all surfaces had the necessary draft angles for proper ejection. This project strengthened my expertise in plastic component design, surface modeling, and manufacturability analysis. It also reinforced my ability to optimize designs for real-world production while adhering to industry best practices. ????????

Section Modulus calculation and optimization of a hood

        Objective:

Thus, the section modulus of the hood was calculated and compared to that of the optimized hood (i.e., Z2>Z1). It was determined that the strength of the hood is directly proportional to the area moment of inertia (MOI). The section modulus of the hood increases, its stiffness and resistance also improve.

Week 11 - Project - A pillar Design with Master Section

            Objective:

Created a CAD model of A PILLAR with the given input of CLASS A surface and master sections by following the industry standard design guide lines. A PILLAR : The structural components at the front of a car's cabin, providing support for the windshield and roof. They are essential for vehicle safety, contributing to the car's structural integrity and crashworthiness. Modern designs aim to balance the thickness of A Pillars for safety while minimizing blind spots to maintain driver visibility.
