FENDER

Fender is a part of the car body that protects the car and its surroundings when the wheel is rotating at high speed. This motion of the wheel on the road slings mud, small stones and other debris onto to the car or into the air that can be dangerous at times.

Fenders are also known as “wings”

Types of fenders

Fenders are classified into two main types

• Full bumper type
• Half bumper type

Full bumper type:

For full bumper type I have presented some good examples to show how it looks, follow figure 3a & 3b

Half bumper type:

Half bumper type are used in new generation vehicles where in the weight of the part is reduced and also the cost. Here the scrap can be saved during material stamping or cutting process by using the half bumper design.

For example the skirt style (covers half of the wheel) and wing style (separate part projected out from the body of the car)
