drop test challenge
##Comments by the Grader##
Good job in completing the challenge.
aim :
to create a basic solver deck to Simulate a drop Test.
procedure :
1. import the model by clicking the pre processor and slect open, ls dyna binary file.
2. for creating the intial velocity click keyword manager and select the velocity now give the velocity for the phone. create the node set id for which the elements to be in velocity.
3. there are 3 parts which is given in the model phone, base plate, and top sheet . In this the base plate and phone is given as solid elements, these two elements is enough for simulating the model even considering the top sheet the simulation can be run. for the two parts for phone create the suitable material but the base plate is should be a rigid body material.
4. assign the material id for the parts in the model.
5. create the section id for the material by clicking section in keyword and select the solid.
6. create boundary condition for which the plate to lock the degree of freedom in all direction and give nodeset id for those elements in plate.
7. now create the contact surface for the phone and plate. make plate as a master node and phone as a slave node.
8. now create the output file by clicking the database and select the binary d3 plot and select the glstat and matsum.
9. in control card select the termination for animation time for the model.
10. for getting lesser duration time make the phone elements to be nearer to the plate by using translate option.
11. now save and run the model.
conclusion:
Problem time = 1.0000E-01
Problem cycle = 208205
Total CPU time = 272 seconds ( 0 hours 4 minutes 32 seconds)
CPU time per zone cycle = 663.150 nanoseconds
Clock time per zone cycle= 664.435 nanoseconds
in vonmisses stress after the impact of the phone there is no stress acting acting on the plate it clearly shows that the plate is acting as a rigid body.
this graph shows the internal energy of the model for the 0.1 second
in this graph it shows the total energy for the model.
result :
thus the solver deck is created for the drop test simulation.
