DESIGN OF SHEET METAL CASING USING NX CAD
Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX CAD
Objective: To design a sheet metal Casing by using NX CAD - Sheet metal application.
Software: NX CAD.
Introduction:
NX sheet metal Design provides the design professional with a complete set of tools to efficiently create and manage sheet metal parts based on the knowledge of material properties and manufacturing processes. NX sheet metal design tools incorporate material and bending information, enabling the model to represent both the formed component and flattened blank shapes.
Steps to design sheet metal bracket:
- To create a rectangular tab of dimension 60*50 and thickness of 1mm.
- Using normal cut-out to create a rectangular cut-out of dimension 5*40.
- Two horizontal lines to be drawn at distance of 10mm from the upper and the lower edges of the tab respectively.
- Bent the sheet using two horizontal lines as a reference.
- Flange of length 5mm to be added at 90 deg at the extreme position of the bend portion.
- Corners of the flanges to be a radius it of 1mm using break corner feature.
- Unbent the faces using unbent feature.
- Clearance to the holes of M2 size to be added in the new flanges.
- The specified sketch to be draw and also dimple to be create by using sketch as a reference.
- Create beads using the feature Bead.
- Rebend the sheet using Rebend feature.
- A flat pattern view to be create using feature flat pattern and complete the model.
Conclusion: The Sheet metal model of casing is obtained using basic feature of sheet metal application in NX CAD.
