DESIGN Of SHALLOW FOUNDATION ( Isolated Footings)

Aim/Objective:

The objective is to formulate the design of an Isolated Shallow Foundation in accordance with the guidelines outlined in IS 456:2000, and subsequently, illustrate the reinforcement specifics.

Procedure:

1. Begin by reviewing the provided data, including the Axial Load and Safe Bearing Capacity (SBC) of the soil.

2. Proceed to determine the appropriate dimensions for the footing based on the SBC of the soil.

3. Computing the Net Soil Pressure using the following method:

4. Determining the Footing Thickness and Verifying it Against Bearing Pressure

5. Compute the Flexural Reinforcement in the Footing.

6. Perform One-Way Shear Check.

7. Perform Two-Way Shear Check.

8. Provideing the Reinforcement Details.

Result/Outcome:

* The Isolated Footing has been designed and evaluated for compliance with the Permissible Stresses outlined in IS 456:2000.

* Additionally, the Reinforcement Details have been documented.
